I think the directions say that even with repeated washing NOT using detergent, it will lose the water-repellant properties. The reason I use this particular car cover is that its advertised for use with tree sap, bird droppings, etc. I don't know how they can expect people to not regularly wash these things. I guess I'm supposed to be living in southern california or something. Anyway, I believe the scratches may be from a neighbors cat that is scratching itself up there. I had no proof, but, I still think something must have been pressing down to create these swirl marks. There are no marks on the rain gutter, which seems like it would have gotten damage along with the roof if it was flapping in the wind. Ugh. I'll have a real garage one day...
