Our ancient house did not have central air conditioning so we removed the storm windows and put the screens in. Another PITA. We then used window fans to move around the hot, humid air.
Me and the dog relocated to the furnished cellar sometime around the middle of June and didn't move back up to the upper floors until after Labor Day.
