We're figuring on tossing just about everything in the fridge freezer.
Re backup power, I've got a funny story on that subject... okay not really that funny.
A couple of weeks ago I bought a 20kW generator on C-list. The thing is a *serious* generator - it basically has a Ford Pinto car engine in it, built-in automatic transfer switch, the whole 9 yards. But it needed "a little TLC".
The plan was to make it a project for next spring, then we saw the weather forecast last week and the plan suddenly changed. I ordered a cable to connect it to the house for Saturday delivery, and starting Friday set about fixing all the wiring weirdness the PO had done to it, fabricated an exhaust, fixed a bunch of small things and... got it running! It produced output, and all seemed well until I noticed the radiator leaking. It looks like it froze at one point - just at the top - but the top tank has probably 10 cracks in it. So no generator for the storm. :^(
