That does look more like a Mosquito than a Marauder because the latter has the wings mounted higher on the fuselage and the motors more underslung and a wingspan of about 71' rather than just 54'. Maybe there was more than one incident, or maybe my Father-in-law has just misremembered the aircraft type and pilot's unit. My Father-in-law was a ground crew chief who got a Bronze Star and a whole lot of commendations because the aircraft which he serviced had over 100 consecutive missions without a single mission being aborted because of mechanical problems -- after all, he grew up on a farm near Little Falls, MN only about 5 miles from Charlie Lindbergh's place.
