like Noel says, it's mostly people on cruise control who pass slowly, mainly because they are either too lazy to bump it up and then down again, or scared of getting a ticket... well if it's the latter, maybe one is already driving too fast (ie if a few mph are going to make all the difference)!
especially on a 1 lane each way, in drivers ed we were told "there is no speed limit"... you commit and you go... it is by far the safest thing... I don't even look at the speedo when I pass (that would be a dangerous waste of eye time), and even the most pedestrian Saab can go stinkin' fast when you want it to! I got a big shock the first time I really laid into the 9-5 in an urgent moment... woosh! awesome!
Then the cops come along and give a friend of mine a ticket for doing 110km/h in a 90km/h zone, when he was passing a car that was doing 85-90km/h on a 1 lane each way highway... one of the best/most conscientious drivers I know... his only mistake: he was driving a Porsche. Talk about the cops sending the wrong message! But it's easier to go after a number (speeding) than target actual unsafe driving behaviour (tailgating etc)...
clearly I have far too many pet peeves!
