I recently paid off my big-boy TV early so I decided to finally get a big-boy audio system to go with it. I'm a self-admitted brand-whore and had a low-end Craigslist-special Onkyo 5.1 system in college that I really liked. So I decided on an Onkyo HT-S5500, disregarding some of the mixed reviews. I spent two nights after work drilling holes and running wires through my basement, closets, attics, etc. to get all seven speakers connected, ceiling mounted and all that jazz.
I have an at&t U-Verse DVR box and an Apple TV plugged into the receiver via HDMI, and then an HDMI running to my Samsung 55" LED TV. About 90% of the time I change the channel, pause/play, or play after FFing or RRing I get a single pop/crack from all the speakers. I changed out all the HDMI cables thinking maybe one of them had a bad ground. No change. Could my receiver have a bad amp? I hear Onkyo customer service sucks so I want to start here to see if I'm missing anything obvious. Thanks!
