Voluntary, get me the He** out! Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 1 Apr 2013 06:08:25 In Reply to: Re: Thanks, I am attacking both ends, lbyer, Mon, 1 Apr 2013 05:48:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had three different first level managers in the last 14 months.
My second level manger had no respect for the tasks I have been assigned since I started working for him, and no interest in moving me to project types for which he has respect and interest.
My third level manager is clueless about the much of the work done by her organization and is more concerned with securing promotions for herself than with developing a viable and sustaining operation. Endless cost-cutting and staff reductions, a 35% head count reduction last year. She recently had everyone introduce themselves at a Departmental Meeting and identify their length of service. She then wrote the names and service lengths of everyone with more than 20 years. I had the highest service in the room that day.
Current all time low interest rates have driven up the value of lump sum pension amounts, and my wife and I have been saving toward retirement for 30 years.
I really want to work another 10 to 12 years. My health is excellent and I have 30+ years of excellent work appraisals.
I determined that I could leave now being in a financial position where another job is not mandatory; or I could wait until the ax falls in another year or two, receive a smaller pension amount due to projected higher interest rates, possibly find myself in a position where another job is required, and be older than I am now making that new job even harder to secure.
Seemed like a "no brainer" to me. Two other employes with higher service than me also left in the first quarter for the same reasons.
