Since engines generally don't fail, this is useless. Stuff attached to the engine can die, such as a serpentine belt or pulley (as we all know) or an ignition module, but that's not an engine failure. Even on a turbocharged car, a turbo dying is not really an engine failure. A hose breaking that drains the coolant and cooks the engine is not an engine failure, either.
And engine failure is something inside the engine failing or requiring replacement. A head gasket, a timing chain, bearings, rings, piston, etc. Or the #3 exhaust valve in the old air-cooled VWs. Those are engine failures.
And the article is an example of lousy journalism.
