I am planning a garden pond. It will be built on a slope (about a 2 foot drop over 12 feet say) so I am aiming for two ponds with a waterfall in between.

My first question is whether to go for the preformed plastic pond or just use the liner? I am on almost pure sand, so that makes the digging easier, but it also makes building ledges etc. more difficult, so I am leaning towards the preformed route. I am wondering if these are as durable as thick butyl flexible liner though.

I am not going to have any fish in there and just fairly minimal vegetation, if that makes a difference.

Any thoughts and words of advice are very welcome.
