AC system fix confusion

I've got two 9-5s, neither of which have working AC. I need them fixed for upcoming longer trips. My main confusion concerns mixing POE oil with the factory PAG oil. My mechanic tends to use POE and I believe this was used in diagnosing a leak. So there's at least some POE in the PAG system on one car. The other car is new to me so who knows what's in there? My mechanic doesn't think I need to flush either car.


As for the other car, if the recharge machine has had POE, some will get in the system even if I put PAG in as the primary oil.

It's unlear if I need Nylog Blue or it's just nice to have. PAG attracts moisture to the seals and threads which some feel is bad.


Then there's the idea of switching both cars to PAO 68. I've got a bottle, but now read some folks thoughts saying it's not a good idea because if the lubricant somehow gets away from the compressor, it can't readily come back.

I want to be sure the cars get fixed right without introducing new problems due to the cost and headaches of an AC system that doesn't work well. AC often isn't as simple as R&R.

I don't have a Saab indy or a good primarily auto AC shop.
