Calibration is less of a problem than with click type, but to say it will always be accurate is a little misleading. You're starting with the premise that it was accurate when it was manufactured, which may be a false assumption. Any defect in the design or materials will negatively affect the accuracy. Not all steel has the same physical properties; slight variations in alloy purity will affect its modulus of elasticity (among other things) which would directly change the reading of a beam style torque wrench, and without any method of calibration adjustment you're going to end up with variability from wrench to wrench. The one good thing about a beam style wrench is that it will be much more consistent than a click type. The down sides are the inherent low resolution and the requirement to be able to position your head to see the scale while applying the torque to the handle. I think that's the biggest reason for the scarcity of this style.
