Floor jack weeping oil

I have an aluminum jack that's recently started to weep oil. The manufacturer stopped making rebuild kits due to litigation. They also no longer sell aluminum jacks due to cost. The jack might have started weeping because of displaced air due to carrying it up from a basement. It still seems to jack fine for the moment. I've not yet added any oil. I'm not sure how much to add as aluminum jacks need some air pocket.
I'm concerned the jack might stop working while in use. That could leave a car stranded up on stands or whatnot. Are these things worth repairing? Anyone know roughly what a hydraulic repair shop charges for this sort of thing? It seems to leak more when used in a less typical way such as when the handle isn't being used over the full range of travel.
