Counter to Counter Service Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Tue, 2 Jul 2013 20:20:12 In Reply to: Re: Shipping items with flight, when flying?, Bobs, Tue, 2 Jul 2013 18:40:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I know that United offers this service from O'Hare, have used it for emergency shipments of electronic items in the middle of the day (think of a demo breaking in the middle of the Consumer Electronics Show for an example of when you want to use this). Unfortunately, while still expensive and convenient, it is not so easy to use this anymore; from Wikipedia:
"Additional security regulations put into place after September 11, 2001 have eliminated anonymous counter-to-counter shipments. Entities wishing to ship must register to become a known shipper according to the specific directives of the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration."
Basically, you have to apply for status as a "Known Shipper" and complete a lot of paperwork and a background check to use this service.
