airline fees Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Wed, 3 Jul 2013 05:04:56 In Reply to: damnit, I had a nice answer & crashed..., Baggsly [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 2 Jul 2013 18:03:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I agree, the fees can be crazy. Skis and bikes used to be free. Nowadays with surfboards, many airlines charge $75-100 *per* board, even if they are in the same board bag! and even if they are all shortboards and that is your only piece of luggage (ie packing a few boards in a bag + all your clothes and go can still rack up a huge bill, even though it's no more heavy, and just a bit longer than a normal suitcase)...
I would look into it before flying. Airlines can easily damage stuff, and they do not like oversize items. Policies are stated on the websites. Definitely don't find this out at the airport! pack it well if you don't want it wrecked!
oh, and that's the bumper. I'm almost 100% certain you will not be allowed to take tranny fluid on the plane, even underneath... ship by ground... probably expensive. I really try to avoid shipping liquids because they are mostly pretty heavy for their value!
good luck!
