The only downside is that a 'vert is all or nothing. You either drop the top or have it up. In a car with a sunroof you can open the roof a little or a lot and go with it open anytime of year. I often come home from a morning of skiing with the roof of my 9K wide open.
But that said, there's nothing like a convertible. I'm on a slow and casual hunt for one to be a semi-daily driver as I will likely keep the 9K. But I suspect I'll drive the 'vert most of the time. Then on a nice day I could come home from skiing with the top down--at least in the spring.
Go for it.
