If you already have a 9-5, why not get another one of those? Then you have the option to swap parts for diagnosis etc.
My understanding is that the 9-3sc is a reliable car, but that it is somewhat less easy to do DIY work than the 9-5 and requires more tech2 capability. That isn't necessarily a big deal if you have a saab indy nearby. Getting extra keys might be an issue (get as many as you can from the seller). You'll get a lot more detailed information from the folks on the 9-3ss bb, but my impression is that from about 2005+ it's a solid car with minimal maintenance concerns.
