Tire Age Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 22 Oct 2013 16:09:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I purchased my Viggen two months ago with 16-inch SE wheels. I just decoded the DOT label tonight to discover the tires were made in early February 2009 meaning they will be 5-years old next year. The tires are Michelin Destiny models with lots of tread remaining but only a 118MPH T-rating. On a 150+MPH car! I could understand an H-rating, but T-rated tires seem far too low for this car.
So it looks like new tires will be appropriate when I take the car out of storage next spring. Or am I over-reacting to the tire age and too low speed rating issues?
There is a pair of these 17-inch wheels offered locally for only $100. I would still need two more wheels but I like the way the Y-spoke opening mimics the Viggen logo
