My only concern would be age hardening. On a cold rainy day, try some max braking effort stops and see what happens. Had an issue with a Passat years ago, tires sliding on a cold rainy night. So we went home and got into the NG900 and tried stopping at the same intersection where the Passat was sliding. The NG900 with performance tires stopped like it was glued to the pavement. The Passat's tires were older, having gone through a few hot Kansas summers. The tread was hard. Also was a high mile rated tire which is the problem, lots of tread left and unsafe.

An age hardened tire can also run rough and out of roundness that is hidden by suppleness can make an old tire unusable.
