those rims would look wicked awesome on a viggen!
I think a viggen should have 17" rims - it's the performance version of the 9-3 afterall... that said, tracking down 2 rims instead of 4 can be harder as people like to sell sets. $100 for 2 of those rims though is a bargain, and if nothing else, you could hold on to them even if you find a set of 4 in case you bend a rim (or sell to someone looking to replace a bent rim, etc).
In terms of tires. I think the age element is heavily embellished by the tire manufacturers, but that might be related to the fact that some manufacturers are better than others! Michelin, I have noticed, is actually rather poor in this regard. Nokian is phenomenal. I have used 12 year old nokian winter tires with absolutely no evidence of age related damage (eg spider line cracking). I have had 6 year old michelins with spiderline cracks, and only slightly older ones (maybe 8?) that were clearly not safe to drive (cracks everywhere). It depends on the rubber compounds. I no longer bother trying to find long tread life tires because I don't drive enough to wear them down (usually) before they get old.
fwiw, I've really enjoyed the michelin Pilot Super Sports on the 9-5. Great summer tire, fantastic performance and road feel without being uncomfortable or harsh. Wear pretty fast, but worth it if you enjoy spirited driving. If the Viggen isn't your main commuter, putting PSS on those rims would probably be a whole lot of fun!
