I have lived and worked in third world countries and the method of standing in lines at post offices and banks is how many bills get paid there, i.e. electric bill, gas bill, telephone, mortgage, etc. The system is so woefully inefficient, with very long lines at cashiers, that there are cottage industries of "line holders" and "bill payers", typically poor people who will stand in line for you until it is almost time to pay, or people who will wait in the long lines and pay your bills.

Even with use of cash, you would be quite surprised how much information is kept about you. Each of the three major credit bureaus keep a file on you with 333 financial descriptor fields, based on reported financial transactions. By the way, the pattern of using cash for many transactions is also a distinct "fingerprint", so your refusal to "play the game" also is identifiable.
