Had a phone call from my bank about a week ago asking me if I'm currently at B.J.'s wholesale in New Jersey putting 500.43 on my debit/credit card and buying the merchandise under credit. I told them no' the card and I are in Massachusetts, so it seems someone got my card number off one of them scanner devices.

I'm dumbfounded becouse 2weeks prior I was in New Jersy at a gas station using the card. Normal purchasing using the card is swip the pin pad, input you PIN number, transaction complete. This gas station went a little different, I swipped the pin pad and the device just sat there like no card was swipped then the teller took the card and swipped the cash register and used the card as credit. I thought it was odd becouse normally they will ask debit or credit and the pin pad will work for the pin # But not this time the card was ran as credit and I was on my way.

Question is' do they have the pin pad plugged into something to capture the card? Reason why I'm asking is because that debit card was imidiatly terminated and I fell onto a Debit/credit card really don't like to use and I'm sort of freaking out now becouse I just used the card at a gas station in New York and the pin pad did the same thing as before, just sat there like no card was swipped and what makes it worse the teller had a huge smile on his face right after I swipped the pad the tell goes and grabs his phone dose someting on it and puts it down in the middle of my transaction. Should I take it as another card number was stolen and call the bank before they have a chance to use it.

I been using debit transactions for everything for the last 5 or 6 years cash is a past memory and in this time I never fell victim to a card capture. What's the chances of it happening 2wice with in a month of each other?
