"Not missing much in cornering with 17" 255's"
Well, the whole purpose of placing larger rims on a vehicle to improve cornering is to reduce the sidewall flex, by maintaining the same overall diameter, replacing some of the "tire height" (of the rim/tire assembly) with "rim height". The fact that the X3's 17" 255 includes an aspect ratio of 55 means that you (potentially) actually have MORE sidewall flex that the 215/55 R16 tires that you could have been running on your 9-5. And, had you ran those, then you wouldn't have the bent rims that were apparently a problem with your 9-5.
You could have had a 9-5 SportWagon w/o the Aero lowering and fascia.
Do you miss the fuel economy of the 9-5. I see where your X3 is only rated 16/23. You probably HAVE to run premium, where that was an option with the 9-5.
Perhaps you don't miss the extra space that the 9-5 has over the X3, I would. I would probably also miss the better turning radius.
SUV's, bleh.
