Yup, so this will only happen if we rebuild our garage, and if we build it taller than a normal garage (about 12' high internal for 1 bay). I would most likely do a pair of bifold doors, though there are minimalist roll-tops that only take up 16" or so at the front of the garage, or could put the track up higher... but I think bifold is more cool... We're in the "what if" phase. The lift would enable storage of a c900 over winter and repair work the rest of the year. Right now 1 car parks outside in the winter, which of course is a nuisance. I'm aware of the difficulty in doing wheel/suspension work, though there are jacks suitable for that (that ride between the tracks)... though I like Les's suggestion of floor jacking when down, blocking under the jack points, then lifting. Seems simple enough.
I like the scissor lift idea, but no good for storing cars. This would allow 3 cars in a (nominally) 2 car garage (our lot is too narrow for a bigger garage, and a lift is cheaper than more square footage + useful to have for repair work). My comment wrt the laser was mainly sarcastic, but I'm wondering if any folks here have had difficulty navigating their lift? I suspect the main issue is parallelism, right?
