If we're swapping anecdotes, then I'll add that my 3 BMWs ('85 325e, '89 325i, and '89 325iX) as well as the others my family members have owned, have been no worse to service (perhaps a bit easier) than the Saab's I've (or my family) have owned: '78 99GL, '83 900S, '86 900 SPG, '93 9000 Aero, '97 900SE, '01 9-5, '04 9-5 Aero.

I'd love to have a BMW wagon with X-drive, a sport package, and a manual transmission. I'd also love to have a 9-5 Aero wagon... so that's what I drive right now.
