OT: Any trick to make Win 7 Pro VM load WIS? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 24 Jan 2014 17:08:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Got our desktop machine back from the computer repair shop last night following last weekend's virus/Win XP OS crash. All data files were recovered (Yeah!) but all program files disappeared. No problem as I have all of those on CD/DVD.
Last evening I spent a few hours loading most of the programs and drivers. The only programs I could not get loaded direct from Windows 7 were the drivers for the relatively new Microsoft keyboard and Microsoft USB camera. Go figure. Even a 2002 copy-righted version of Print Shop that my wife uses for school, and is imprinted with Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows NT on the disk label, loaded directly into Windows 7 with out any drama.
Tonight I finally got to my last CD, the Saab WIS program. It won't load in Windows 7 directly. It won't load in Windows 7 Compatibility mode after setting the parameters to Windows XP Service Pack 3.
The third method shown to me was to start the Win7 Virtual Machine and load the program from there. The program will start to load, asking me for languages and markets, etc. But then it hangs up. Should I have removed the DVD from the drive before starting the Win7 VM?
I have free on-line service available from the local computer store to assist me with stuff like this for the next 30 days or so, but thought if there was another trick available I would try that before setting up an on-line appointment.
Thanks,
