We got rid of ours this weekend Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 27 Jan 2014 16:32:57 In Reply to: Nah. I'm sticking., Dan-O, Sun, 26 Jan 2014 17:23:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I don't watch much TV but my wife has a handful of favorite shows and has gotten frustrated with so many of them being broadcast in 16:9 format when we had a 4:3 TV. The pre-Super Bowl TV Sales were the deciding factor
Our old set was a 15 year old, 27 inch monitor style, Sony Trinitron CRT which weighs over 93 pounds! Our new set is a 32 inch Samsung SmartTV, which means we now need a new piece of furniture to sit it upon.
The old Sony still works great but at 15 years of age its future time of proper function may be another 5 years, or 5 days. We plan on giving it away to someone, I just hope they won't expect me to load it for them single handed!
BTW - I think the Sony may have had the better picture even though the Samsung has all the hot features (1080p, 120Hz) which should make it among the best.
