First - Congratulations on completing your degree!
Universities consider Loans as being Financial Aid. In my mind they aren't but the loans do provide a convenient way for the student to continue their education without chasing down every banker on the internet applying for educational assistance.
My concern is that a too high EFC will prevent him from qualifying for loans. Sure loans need to be paid back, and the sooner the better, but the school loans kept students in class rather than in Bank Lobbies during the time our sons were earning their undergraduate degrees.
