Looks like you've found some good history on it. The repaint would be a biggie for me living in the land of salt and snow. Unless it was well done, there could be trouble going forward like your tech says. But then again, for the right price, it might be a great car.
Overall, I've decided it's better to not go searching nation-wide for unicorns unless one is doing it as a collector. So for me, sure a c900 might be worth doing that, but a 9-5... well I doubt they'll ever really be that collectable because they aren't *that* different looking (whereas an SPG is). That said, maybe there are more 9-5's on the market around me. I've partly gone with what my SAAB tech says: "you can tell pretty quickly if a car was well cared for"... if the paint and leather etc is in good shape, no overspray or broken parts, etc there's a better chance the rest of the car was taken care of also. I figure, if I can get a decently cared for car at a great price and have a slush fund to make it right, then I'm good.
