I'm surprised by some of the negative comments here, perhaps I can add a little objectivity from my experience. I recently picked up a 9-4X, not an Aero, so a little less money but on the whole a very nice vehicle. There is no problem with parts availability, be it body, trim, glass, lamps, mechanical, etc. Saab Parts purchases parts (and has them made) by various suppliers worldwide, you are not depending on a shrinking stash in a warehouse somewhere. Authorized Saab Service shops have all the info to get parts and repair the cars, just like any other Saab, and they continue to be able to do any recalls, service bulletins, and warranty work. You can purchase a Saab Secure warranty for a 9-4X, you should look up the details specific to the car you're considering, but I have seen a couple of cars advertised with warranty out to 100K miles. As with any other car, there are some "known" problems with the 9-4X including sunroof drain leaks (same with SRX), rear differential leaks (same with SRX), and failing LEDs in the taillights. The first two have mostly been addressed by now on all the vehicles out there, taillights are available and I think some aftermarket sources may offer repair service. As far as pricing, I would agree that $28K is a tad high, I have seen asking prices from $19K - $25K recently depending on trim and mileage. One note, KBB tends to track 9-4X pricing with the SRX values since there are not many 9-4Xs being sold to create a database, so be careful relying on that as a source for pricing. I would agree with the comment that you may find that it has little resale value in 5 years, but if you like the car and think you'll drive it to the end of it's life, then there's no reason not to consider a 9-4X. You certainly won't see another one on the road very often!
Hope that helps, good luck!
Gary
