I like the OEM exhaust on my Viggen. Saab designed it so it kind of sounds like a deep-throated V8 when you step on it. Or maybe a V6. Definitely more than a V4. But I digress. I have a Fox stainless cat-back system on my '91 9kT from Swedish Dynamics that has withstood about 10 Wisconsin winters. I am on my 2nd aluminized 3 inch downpipe, as the first rusted out, but the cat-back system still looks good. You can hear the car coming from about a block away - it's not obnoxiously loud, but it has a certain burbly sound, and it isn't quiet.
I recall that Saab once offered a stainless exhaust for, I think, the C900, but everyone said it was louder than stock. I can't understand why car makers don't offer a stainless alternative that's quiet. It could be a factory option. I don't even need it to be shiny!
