I really don't want to have to start drilling through bottom plates to run new circuits but will if this proves to be a problem. Having water and ice available in the refrigerator door would tend to make a GFCI mandatory for such appliances, at least in my mind.
What about the AFCI devices? I understand these are a head-ache unto themselves and nearly everyone hates them. Some are identified on the package as AFCI Combination devices. Do these operate as a GFCI as well?
I still need to re-wire the son's garage. Again no GFCI in the detached building. One almost inaccessible receptacle and two light switches. One swith disables the outlet to the garage door opener (really bad idea since there is no pedestrian door), and I haven't determined what (if anything) the other switch controls.
