yeah, I've heard that overtightening the nut can be problematic - I've only had a couple prestas fail at the valve out of heaps of tubes. I actually tighten the nuts pretty tight, but only loose initially when I pump it and then once at full pressure I tighten the nut a little more. That might make a difference. But I like that they never slide and tilt... when I was younger, I went through heaps of schraeder tubes that slipped, tilted, and failed at the valve...

that said, I am pretty much exclusively a mountain biker, so YMMV!
