Active life style, impractical gullwings etc... sorry, "falcon wings"... more noble sounding I guess! ha! Either way, they make the car totally impractical for the outdoor crowd - can you put a canoe or longboard (large surfboard) on the roof? Skis even? Can they fit inside? Can you do a hitch rack on the back for bikes?
Ideally, for an EV, you want to haul stuff *inside* not outside anyway (drag not good for EV range!!)...
I kind of like the shape of the X for an SUV. I agree a little with the 9-4x comparison though it looks more like a Crosstour or X6... yes, GM claimed SAAB owners were switching to SUV's but Outbacks and Foresters were some of the most common SUV's... popular with outdoors types, but not the same level of driving experience.
So that's the thing - do active people need an SUV? Lots of Suby impreza owners are active types. Any reasonably sized hatch or wagon is great for hauling... So a 9-5 wagon or og9-3 are perfect outdoorsy cars, and because they are cars, they are generally more fun to drive than most higher riding vehicles (SUVs)...
So to me, the Model S is much more SAABy because it reminds me a lot of a 9000 with the big hatch. I hope they sell a pile of them and the used market get flooded with them! then I'll get one... ha! $100k on a rapidly depreciating wear item is not really a way I like to spend $$. Sadly, we all will need to look beyond SAAB at some point, and to me Tesla is one of the more familiar feeling options (in a future sense I guess you could say)...
