OT: Aruba for newbies? Posted by ELaw [Email] (#699) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ELaw) on Mon, 4 Jan 2016 04:37:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My wife and I are planning a week vacation to Aruba in late May, and we've never been there before. Has anyone here visited Aruba before?
I'm looking for any input on good/bad areas, places to stay, places to eat, things to do, local customs, really pretty much anything. We're leaning toward AirBnB for lodging but there are so many choices it makes my head spin! And we'll probably be renting a car - is there anything special I should know? I've seen a few mentions of people getting cars stolen and recommending buying theft insurance.
It'll just be myself and my wife - no kids. We both like the outdoors but she has physical issues so hiking and biking are probably off the agenda. Swimming and snorkeling are not - she'd love to do some snorkeling if there's a good place for that. She has some interest in gambling so we might want to check out a casino or two but won't be spending our entire time there. I used to be a fairly hardcore windsurfer and found an interesting looking place called "Aruba active vacations" - has anyone been there?
