I have not had much experience with speeding tickets fortunately, so I wanted to get some advice on the matter. I was doing 66 in a 45 at about 9:30 one night after getting off an all day flight home. I needed gas, so I exited the interstate onto a 4 lane split county rd (2, median, 2) and needed to get over to the left lane to pull into the station. Long story short, I did punch it to get in front of a long line of traffic to make my turn, and must have gone right past a cop sitting in the dark. The ticket is for $215, and I have the option to pay online. The courthouse is about 2.5 hrs from home, so I don't know if it would be worth showing up to get some leniency on the amount. Any thoughts on what the usual amount is that a judge will help you out with? I have a good record, but the court time is 8:30AM, so it would be an early morning if I go all the way down there and only get like $50 taken off.
