Station wagons are currently immensely popular in Europe - SUVs not often seen where gas costs $7/gallon. If Fiat/Alfa wants to be competitive in this sector, they will develop a wagon version of the Giulia - although we probably won't see it.

Just came back from Italy where I rented an Opel Insignia wagon, equipped with turbo Diesel and 6-speed manual trans. No way that GM will be offering anything similar in the US despite its commonality with a Buick Regal.
