Can the Electronics Degrade in a NIB CD Head unit over time? Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Mon, 28 Nov 2016 12:05:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've always liked the look of Blaupunkt CD players in my classic 900's. Had a half dozen over the years. The ones named after cities-like San Francisco, Los Angeles etc. Never had a Hamburg but wished I did. I had a a major house fire last year. My lightly used Los Angeles head unit was in the garage and got foamed by the fire dept-RIP. My San Fransisco was in the dash of my 900T parked at my vacant skeleton of a house and got lifted. Last week I picked up a NIB Blaupunkt Acapulco as a replacement on the 'bay'. It came in the box with all the packed accessories. Looked very well stored. I'm guessing it's 10-15 years past it's production date. Checked the wiring layout and it's the same as my other Blaupunkts. I plugged into my Saab where my previous unit happily played for years. It lights up and does all the display things but not a sound, hiss, crackle or pop. Can something like that have diodes or capacitors or the like that just die from age atrophy? Even though they have never seen 12 volts?
