Many of you know that besides founding The Saab Network on the Internet in 1988, I also founded the non-profit, Poverty2Prosperity.org in 2008 to make zero-percent interest loans to the working poor. Today is our 10th anniversary and we have an annoucement. Please share, if you can.

Ten years ago today, Poverty2Prosperity.org was founded with the simple idea of providing zero-percent interest loans to the working poor - to give them a help-out rather than a hand-out. The initial $1,000 donation made then is still making new loans today. Thanks to our 99.44% repayment rate, that donation made in 2008 will still be making new loans in 2108. In addition, due to our all-volunteer staff, 97% of all donations go directly into making loans.

Since our first General Fund and over the years (20,000 loans later), we've been able to create a number of additional funds that target specific poverty-breaking areas. We now have funds for Women Entrepreneurs, Youth, Education, Personal Housing, USA-Based Borrowers (Zip), and a fund that tries to keep expiring loans from going unfunded (SOS). These funds help start businesses, help people to get and keep jobs, help to provide stable housing - all of which, in turn, helps children to be safe and to get an education.

On our tenth anniversary, we're celebrating a decade of loan making with the creation of a new fund that is targeting support for single parents. Single parents are often disadvantaged as they are responsible to both care for their children and to provide financial support for the family. Single parent households can reach 70% in some African countries where 75% of the population is living on less than $2 per day. Our Single Parent fund is aimed at providing support for these parents through starting businesses, education, and stable housing... for just a start.

We are inviting you to help celebrate our ten years with a matching donation to the Single Parent Fund. Any funds donated this week will be matched 100% up to a maximum of $10,000. If we can't make it to $10,000 in donations, we will only receive the matching amount. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Donations are tax-deductible.
