You can carry parts, but things can still bite you and make a trip very difficult. And most places you can go to for repair don't have a clue about Saabs. For example....
About 4 years ago the fuel pump failed on our '03 9-5 while en route to a wedding in Nova Scotia. We were on schedule to catch a ferry but the car died and the nearest Saab shop was about 30 miles behind us. AAA plus did the tow with me, wife and 2 daughters in the truck. I'd called the repair shop so they were ready for us and got us back on the road. But we lost the time we needed to get to the ferry, so we wound up driving all night and getting to the place we rented at 5 AM. A newer or at least more common car would have been better.
We still take the 9-5 on trips, and I carry tools, a spare DI and fuel pump, but stuff can always bite you. Our longish trips each year are to our house in NS and there are stretches on the route where there are no repair places at all, let alone ones that can deal with a Saab. Makes me nervous. There are times when there is a lot to be said for a vehicle that can be fixed anywhere.
