I have been regretting the diesel a little Posted by adl6009 [Email] (#2526) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adl6009) on Fri, 28 Jun 2019 14:02:27 In Reply to: Re: Good advice thanks, and another dealer story, Chip Fichot [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 28 Jun 2019 09:46:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I bought it new in 2015 and I have 42k miles now. Most of the early stuff was because of the def system. I had repeated mil lights, bring the truck in, 2 weeks later same story. The def system had trouble beginning a regen mostly (thats where the system burns off particulate in the exhaust filter), the system leaked, some bracket broke and that kind of thing. Ok it was a new to market engine there are going to be bugs. I don't do a lot of hiway driving so the computer trips an oil change warning at less than 2k miles usually. Thats starting to get expensive. During a snow storm I must have gotten ice into the starter which caused it to lock up. The last 2 years have been better. This last thing with the fuel filter they are calling a maintenance item, I can see that. I haven't had any other problems that I can think of right now. Even with all that I do like the truck. Just took a 900 mile trip and the truck ran like a champ. Real comfortable on the hiway at any speed ;) Only thing I worry about now is getting 500 miles out and having to spend a day or two waiting for the part to come in. Never felt that way with my 9-5.
