I am an orthopedic trainwreck Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Mon, 24 Feb 2020 06:50:35 In Reply to: Re: Meniscus Repair 10 Years Later, stopsaabn [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 22 Feb 2020 10:26:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've had meniscus trims, three rotator cuff surgeries (a 4th is in the works), two spinal fusions with instrumentation (11 levels - 22 screws), and am currently about to find out if I need surgery for a torn muscle in my hip (5 weeks of PT plateaued out). I concur with stopsaabn with some additional caveats - my favorite approach to pain (other than lots of drugs), is hot/cold modalities: heat for 15-20, stretch for 5-10 minutes, and 15-20 minutes of ice. Do one or two cycles of this/day for a few days and you will feel much better.
Sadly, I used to be a black diamond skier and was forced to give this up. You will also have to consider how important hockey is to you and what your trade offs there are. I didn't get much choice re: my skiing - I have one single disk just above my pelvis on which I pivot. Were I to blow that out attempting to ski (even a green trail), my walk would become genuinely Frankensteinian. Best of luck on getting some releif.
