I test drove a low mileage used 2017 Volvo V60CC last month and its large screen is located in the dash with push buttons surrounding it. Seemed to be a logical application for both. Buttons for rapid selection, screen for viewing and maybe complex commands.
On the other hand - I had an opportunity to test drive a NOS 2019 Genesis G70. Its dash top screen appeared to be permanently jutting into the driver's field of vision. I never did the test drive because the car's physical size was too small and no one makes a trailer hitch for it.
