I have an '06 9-7x with the 4.2. While the GM influence is inescapable, they cooked in enough SAAB goodness to satisfy me. We've had SAABs in the stable since '92 have had everything from a 900T to various 9000's, the 9-3 convert to our current 9-5 and the 9-7x so we're pretty committed SAABers! The 9-7x has served extremely well and just turned 200k with largely general care issues. The only real complaint is that the tires are an odd size and are therefore a bit pricey. The handling allows maneuvers that would give other SUV's grey hair and the economy isn't terrible for its size and capabilities. I've towed a reasonably heavy trailer through the hills of western PA without a problem. plenty of power to pull the hills without major strain.
