Didn't change the oil for two years. Recently did it. What now? Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Tue, 23 Nov 2021 13:57:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
For a few reasons, I wasn't able to be back where my Viggen is to do an oil change (Covid and other reasons). The car didn't get an oil for two years. It was stored for the winter. It had maybe between 2-3k miles driven on the oil on longer drives, so not much use out of the oil, just time. Before this, I changed the oil twice per year. Mobil1 0w-40.
It just got a fresh oil and coolant change. I'm thinking of doing another oil change soon, either before I store it for the winter or right after. Same with the coolant.
Can this sort of thing cause any internal damage to the car, in that the oil was "old" and not doing its job? I'm probably overthinking this and should just avoid it happening again in the future. Honestly, the reason I didn't do it was because I thought I'd be back sooner and didn't want to take it to just any mechanic since it almost never sees one (except me!).
