Car won't start after winter storage - left battery accidentally Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Tue, 20 Jun 2023 19:48:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Never ever had this issue before. This is the FIRST time I accidentally left the battery connected the whole time. I usually disconnect it, then charge it in the spring and it starts right up. This time, I charged the battery (there was some corrosion on the cable ends) and when I connected the cables, I didn't see the red led for the alarm start flashing. It's like nothing was registering.
I went ahead and bought another battery charger (since the one I was using is old and the led indicators don't work). The new charger tells me the battery is fully charged.
Do Saabs do funky things when you leave them with a battery and then the battery dies? Could the battery cables have been damaged due to this? It's interesting how this is the first time I've ever had this issue AND the battery was left connected all winter. Maybe the cables got damaged? They look okay overall, just some corrosion that I'll clean off.
I'll clean the terminals tomorrow and try again, but if nothing registers, what do I check next?
I'm asking here because this is a general question that applies to all cars.
Thanks for any tips.
