Note that there are shops that can shave off some of the depth of new tires - this is more common for racing tires than snow tires, but it's the same process. So it is possible to match tread depth if you want to.
Next more expensive idea would be a pair of new tires. If shaving tread is somewhat expensive, I would just do that. On a car without all-wheel drive, that would probably be a better idea and indeed what I did on my wife's RWD BMW. I bought some snows on alloy wheels and two of them were worn out, so I bought two new tires. One of the old tires got a puncture and she drove too far on it, so two more new tires.
I'm surprised to hear that Nokian Hakkas are twice the price of Blizzaks. On my car I run Nordman 9s, which are the previous generation of Hakkas and can be found for less than $100 each.
