AGM Battery Experience? 1 Saabers Like This Post!
Posted by Gaston Fichot [Email] |
Hi all - time to replace the battery on my 08 9-3 convertible 2.0T. Posting this in the General board since battery experience is not necessarily model-specific.
Other than the post linked below - which identified that the poster's experience with an AGM battery was that it died without warning - I'm curious if anyone has any feedback (positive or negative) about AGM batteries?
One of the reasons I'm considering the AGM is that I tend to take short trips in my convertible, and my understanding is that AGM batteries charge faster because they have less resistance than lead acid batteries. I work from home and don't have lots of reasons for leaving the house. I generally put the car into hibernation over the winter, but I'll take it out if we have some decent weather.
On the other hand, I've also read that you need a very precise charger if it needs to be charged. Since it sits a lot over the winter, I try to give it a charge every so often and I would invest in a good trickle charger to keep the new battery topped up.
Any feedback would be appreciated!
