Typcically (except for SUV's)parking next to a 4 door is better because the doors are shorter. Also in an office parking lot it is usually better to park a bit closer to the passenger side door of the other car than the driver side door. The chance of someone opening the passenger side door is less likely than the driver side door. And last - parking next to a car of approximately the same height with a good rubber side molding is also a good thing. So from the other posts it is re-assuring to see that other people also concerned about dings too.
