'50s Studebakers were great cars.
The '55 President Speedster (not a Hawk yet) just had a Studie 289 V8. There may have been a few of them that were factory supercharged, but not many.
The '56 Golden Hawk had a Packard V8 which made it unbelievably front heavy (sort of like a big Alpine Tiger.) It went really fast in a straight line.
The supercharged Studebaker cars (I think they were from '57 on, including some Avantis) used Studebaker 289 V8s with Paxton superchargers, not Chrysler engines. I have no doubt that some guys put Chrysler hemis or other Mopar V8s in their Hawks. The frames on the Studies were what you might call "compliant." If you think that an old 900 flexes when you go over uneven roads ... It's just that little twist in the body when you get your foot into it :-)
An interesting thing about the Studebaker V8 is that it was designed with the assumption that very high octane fuels would become available, so the block was beefy but not able to be bored out. I remember reading that they had 14:1 or higher compression ratios in mind. Just like SAAB engines, they were suitable for super/turbo-charging.
As much as I love my 900, I really miss my Studebakers.
