Saw an article in today's online edition of Auto.com, which highlights the
upcoming US debut of the Ford Focus 5-door. Interesting how the auto pundits talk about hatchbacks in the U.S. market, with absolutely no mention of the 9-3.

And I like the quote that says we're not making a sufficient "fashion
statement" driving a 9-3 or 900 hatch. So driving a me-too Japanese
car or another fuel-hogging SUV does?

The last paragraph of the story tells it all, I guess. Many of us
Saabers have a European-based value system with our cars, and hence
not like most other Americans--the implied word for the latter group
seems to be "superficial", but that's just me.

Of course, a fellow Saaber friend of mine in the UK wondered if Saabers are
considered hedonists in some political circles, after Wm. Bennett once
decried the "Take your own Road" ad campaign of a few years ago. He
thought it too non-conformist and potentially dangerous to society.
